Timothy Aucello

Picture
Tim Aucello is a music educator, trumpeter, and composer/arranger with a deep, personal connection to Cherokee High School—his alma mater (Class of 2010). Since 2023, Tim has been proud to return to his roots as an educator at Cherokee High School, where he now leads several ensembles that he once performed in as a student.

Tim graduated from Rowan University with honors, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 2015 and later his Master’s Degree in Composition in 2019. He was in the studios of Bryan Appleby-Wineberg, Denis DiBlasio, and Dean Schneider.

At Cherokee, Tim directs the Cherokee Orchestra, Cherokee String Ensemble, Lenape Regional Orchestra, Cherokee Marching Band, and Cherokee Trumpet Ensemble. In addition to his work with these performance groups, he has taught music technology, piano lab, music appreciation, and music theory classes.

Tim is a Philadelphia-area trumpeter and composer/arranger. His writing work has been featured by renowned artists such as Steve Weist, Dr. Timothy Schwarz, Mike Davis, Jim Ridl, Dean Schneider, Denis DiBlasio, and George Rabbai. He has played in a variety of performance settings, from Church/wedding services to local musical theater performances, most notably with international pop artist Evangelía. In addition to his ensemble work, he has a trumpet studio for teaching individual lessons.

Tim’s career in education began at Gibbsboro School, where he taught general music from preschool through eighth grade, led beginner and middle school bands and choirs, and served as music director for the spring musical. Since 2016, his evolving role with the Cherokee Marching Band—ranging from brass caption head and sound engineer to assistant director and now director—exemplifies his commitment to student success and continuous program development. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tim extended his impact beyond his school community by contributing to Journey to Harmony, a non-profit organization that delivered virtual music programs to New York City students who were without access to traditional music education.

Tim currently resides in Mount Laurel and is excited to be teaching in the program that ignited his passion for music.
