You’re a freshman....and its the first day at Cherokee. All of a sudden going back to Marlton Middle and DeMasi doesn't seem like a bad idea. Where do you sit on the bus? How will you ever find homeroom? How do you get from English in South to Italian in North? And-- the cafeteria...UGGGH! You have no idea where to go, who to talk to, or what to do! You’re nervous, hesitant, excited, anxious and maybe somewhat overwhelmed…
BUT THEN....as you get on the bus, 5 upperclassmen say "Hi!" . You walk into the hallway and 3 people wave to you . One senior comes up and asks if you need help finding your homeroom. The other freshmen start wondering, "Who is this kid and why does he know everybody?" You already know the layout of the school. WHY?....
...Because YOU ARE IN MARCHING BAND! When you are in marching band you walk into school confidently, from day one, knowing you already have over 100 friends from the summer before freshman year! You’d feel welcome, comfortable in your surroundings, and have immediate upperclassmen friends. No other organization eases the transition to high school like band.
